CPL2.0 "Twitter" May 24, 2010

Twitter is certainly part of the "Social Media Revolution" and is a fundamental shift in the way we communicate.
I was pleased to read about "Twitter and the Community" and that they were actively involved in making the world a better place to live by contributing and promoting organizations such as:
Charity Water, World Aids Day and have partnered with Room to Read.
Personally, this would not be the path that I would choose to communicate but If I owned a business and was to be part of the work force for several years, I would probably reconsider this statement.
Watching the recommended video on You Tube called the "Social Media Revolution" was an eye opener for me, the statistics presented were amazing but I also found them very scary!

LibraryThing

LibraryThing May 17 - 2010

LibraryThing is my favourite social networking site as its easy to use and I can now keep track of the books that I read as well as read the reviews. I have actually joined! This scares me, am I becoming addicted like the rest of the world? Nope, that won't happen!

May 10 - Online Productivity Tools

I did create a Google and Yahoo Calendar, they were both simple to create.
30 Boxes presented a lot of problems that were posted by users, due to this, I would not use it.

Scrybe is the productivity tool that I preferred and that I would use. Their video was very informative as to what they had to offer, it seems to be very user friendly. The video was very informative as to what Scrybe had to offer.

However, I prefer to stick to the more traditional methods and would not personally use these tools.

CPL 2.0 Flickr & YouTube

Flickr is a great sight for storing, fixing etc. your photos and its free! However, because I have a MAC computer that does all this and more, I would not use Flickr.

I enjoyed viewing the YouTube videos and was fascinated by the statistical information presented.
The average text messages that are sent by a teen in one month are 2,272!
Mobile device will be the world's primary connection to the internet in 2020!

Yes, I was able to successfully set up my RSS feed to CBC Calgary News. This is a great way to gather information, cool!

Monday, April 19, 2010

I really enjoyed exploring the "more" and "even more" sites on Google.
The program that I would recommend and that I would now use is "Google Scholar"
Google Scholar provides a simple way to broadly search for scholarly literature, this would be a great site for academic students. These are peer reviewed articles.

CPL 2.0 "Social Networking"

I personally think that Facebook and other social networking sites are a waste of time.
A personal interaction, telephone call or hand written letter are much more meaningful to me.
I would rather choose to read a book, see a movie, or attend a social function.
Families living in the same home, communicate through texting! People text on bus, in the movies, at work, in restaurants, anywhere and everywhere!
The "Art of Verbal Communication" has been lost! How very sad!
Society today are loosing their "Social Skills" to modern technology and with this will come regrets.
